How you travel is as important as your destination. When trying to decide what type of travel is best for you, you need to consider a lot of different things.

  • What is the purpose of your trip? Relaxation, adventure, to learn about history and cultures?
  • What is your personality? Are you outgoing and enjoy meeting new people or are you more introverted and prefer exploring on your own?
  • What are your interests? Do you enjoy water sports, art, music, history, culture, hiking, festivals, shopping, nature, wildlife photography?
  • How do you like to spend your time? Relaxing or being active?
  • What is your budget? Do you need to stretch your dollar or are you able to travel without worrying about expenses?
  • How much time to you have? One week, two weeks, unlimited?

Your answers to the above questions will be able to point you in the right direction and Utopianic Travels will help you find the right fit and balance so that everyone finds the fun they seek.

While traveling you might be shocked by how much you spend every day. Food and accommodations usually take the heaviest toll on your wallet. The cost of food can be reduced by shopping at grocery stores and not dining in restaurants, which tend to be very expensive in tourist areas.  Also, there are things like museums, tourist attractions, pubs, and nightclubs, which are all extras that seem small but add up quickly. Plan your trip wisely, but don’t end up regretting not having done or seen something just because it cost money that you were afraid to spend. Be sure to inquire about our student or youth discounts as well as other cost cutters!

There is no definitive rule of thumb to help you determine whether or not travel insurance is necessary. However, we recommended investing in travel insurance if it’s a trip that costs more than $2,000 or a “vacation that you can’t afford to lose.”  Travel insurance is always a good idea if you can swing it, especially when you are planning a big trip and have invested significantly into your travel plans. Other factors, such as specific health restrictions, should also be considered. For instance, if you have a health condition that may cause you to cancel your travel plans, health insurance is probably a smart investment. But most importantly, if travel insurance will ease your travel anxieties, it’s worth it. “If you’re going somewhere and it’ll give you peace of mind, buy it!

Depending on where you are traveling (especially for less-developed regions), you might need vaccines against hepatitis A and B, as well as many other illnesses.  Special medication against malaria is available.  Consult with the UHS Travel Health Clinic. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control provides official travel health information for worldwide destinations.
